Jan Six by Rembrandt.

Jan Six by Rembrandt.

Rembrandt's portrait of Jan Six was painted in 1654 and hangs in the Rijksmuseum/Six Collection in Amsterdam. Jan Six, who became mayor of Amsterdam, was an important cultural figure who amassed a large collection of art, known as "The Six Collection" from which several works are exhibited at the Rijksmuseum each year.

This large etching by Petrus Arendzen, measuring 50cm x 44cm, is a particularly faithful copy of the original.
